FAQ
RIDER is “drone-agnostic,” meaning it can detect any modern drone (e.g., DJI, Autel, Skydio) that broadcasts a standard Remote ID signal. It's important to know that if a drone doesn't transmit Remote ID (which is common for drones under 250g), RIDER won't be able to see it, as there's no signal to detect.
You have two great options:
1. The Dronetag App
This is our primary platform. It connects to RIDER via the cloud (using its built-in LTE) and gives you access to detection history, remote access, and a shared team view.
2. The Drone Scanner App
This is a free, simple option that connects directly to your RIDER via Bluetooth. It gives you live, real-time situational awareness, but doesn't have cloud features or a detection history.
Yes. If the drone is broadcasting the pilot's location as part of its Remote ID signal, RIDER will show you that position on the map. If the pilot's location isn't being sent, RIDER will show you the drone's take-off point instead.
RIDER has a real-world detection range of up to 5 km (3 miles) with the default antenna, and detection is in real-time. This range can be affected by interference, as Remote ID uses the crowded 2.4 GHz frequency (like Wi-Fi), but it can also be extended by using optional directional antennas.
You can expect it to run for about 8 to 12 hours on a full charge, which is perfect for a full day in the field. When it's time to recharge, you just plug it in with a standard USB-C cable.
It's incredibly fast, even the very first time you use it. You just turn it on, register it in the Dronetag App on your phone, and you can start scanning your airspace. You should be up and running in just a few minutes.
This is a great question, and again, you have two ways to choose from:
1. Using the full Dronetag App (with cloud, history, etc.):
Yes. Your RIDER comes with a 2-month free trial. After that, you'll need a paid Data Bundle to cover the LTE data and cloud services.
2. To use RIDER for free:
No subscription is needed. You can use the Drone Scanner app for free. It connects to RIDER via Bluetooth and provides live, real-time detection with no monthly costs.
Absolutely. The RIDER is built for professionals. You can export detection data from the Dronetag App or use our APIs to feed live data from the Dronetag Cloud directly into your own third-party security or command systems.
